cngu218 I initially fell in love with the demo of "Quicksand" before the full release. It was like finding a version of myself buried in the song. A plantitive voice, the single guitar - and lyrics that transformed my heart from anguish to determination and back again.

The studio version of the songs on the EP are great with my favourite being "Settle Down". Jack's flair for poetic verse shines through in every song and they are all worth at least one listen for that alone.

If you get a signed CD, he has beautiful penmanship!

1.
[V1] This morning sun ray; it knows me well. I sleep off the daytime; because it’s bad for my health. Feet touch the ground - what’s left behind, babe? And when the penny drops, I cast the shadows from my mind. [CH] Let it fall where it lands, like a grain of sand, slipping through my hands, onto a foreign land. Sometimes I feel like I’m wasting my life. I love the places, but I hate the endless city lights. It’s in my nature to feel like I’m losing patience, but the future’s what you make it, so until we meet our fate… [CH] [Br] I wish we had more time with each other, babe… Because I can’t follow the tide or the weather vein… [x2] [CH]

Sleep 04:38
[CH] Part of life is losing sleep to dreams that make you cry and weep; the other half is losing dreams to things you think you’ve gotta keep [V] Oh… My nerves are shot, three bottle tops and I feel tipsy, but I’m not tipsy enough; I don’t sleep at night with a sober mind (my nightmares are rough) so I just turn on my laptop. L.C.D.; Lowest common denominator verbal vomit dominating my liquid crystal display~I wonder if our love would have survived? But I know that there’s no harder I could try… Cradle me in the fullness of time. [CH] [Br] Well I know it’s been your habit to throw too many punches, and I know you do your best to see the best in men; you are a special specimen and I believe in time that time will rearrange itself to fit your best intent. And I know every single word that you have agonised around and then replayed again’s a sign of deep respect, and your immeasurable intelligence… but every conversation doesn't need to be so vital; a moment should be for itself, and not for your survival. [CH]
3.
Settle Down 05:25
[V1] I know that you wanted to breathe, but you could not find your lungs… And I know that you found your release, but we wish you would stay with us [CH] Settle down, I'll see you in the morning. Settle down, (please) don't leave without a warning. Settle down, settle down… [V2] Well don’t start to believe your own mind, ‘cause it’s a precious thing to lose. If it still hurts when you know that you’re right, then it just might be the wrong thing to do. [CH…] Let me ice that memory for you.
4.
Soothe 03:07
[V1]Well, this is how it goes - Should we go our separate ways? Or should I wait; for years, or months, or days? Should I grow old? And wither in my face? It don't matter, ‘cause my time, it goes to waste. [CH] Soothing my wounds, you take them away with you… Soothing my wounds, you don’t know how it feels~ [V2] This is how it goes; We waste the precious days. No show; it's cancelled by the rain. Excited by your face, excited by the pain, it doesn't matter, ‘cause my time, it goes to waste. [CH] [Br] Now, I could go through all the ways I care about you, they’re cliches – sit here on a London train, and wonder what I’m trying to say - and I guess I could just simplify, but it’s gets harder when I try… If you cry at night then trust me… [CH] ...You don’t know how it feels to miss you.
5.
Quicksand 02:56
[V1] Two glasses on my nightstand (ooh) getting lost in the quicksand, with you. I don't mind if I do - but you might wanna listen (might wanna listen…) [CH] I could serve your groove if you let me, I could serve your groove (oh yeah) I could serve your groove if you let me - would you let me in? I could serve your groove if you let me (If you let me in) I could serve your groove [V2] I miss you more than your body, we could be more than a one night stand. I see through your disguise, see the future in your eyes, and you’re making me a real man... Time drags on without you, I’m killing time just to fill my days… I wanna give a little light going back into the night [CH] I could serve your groove if you let me, I could serve your groove (oh yeah) I could serve your groove if you let me - would you let me in? I could serve your groove if you let me (If you let me in) I could serve your groove If you let me serve [x4]

about

Sound Travels is a handful of songs from an introspective time in my mid-twenties.

Countless hours and endless care was poured into crafting this music - I hope it finds a place in your ears, a home in your heart, helps you in your own mind, or simply provides some pleasant pulse to accompany a moment in your life.
